After using Kaspersky's Remove tool and installing new version of Kaspersky, there ended up being two versions of the "Scan with Kaspersky Anti-Virus" shell extension with slightly different versions numbers. Disabling the earlier version (16.0.0.661) stopped the crashing after right-clicking on a folder or file. To see if it was simply beacuse there were TWO VERSIONS was the problem, I re-enabled the older version and disabled the newerversion; that did not fix the problem.

- Download and run the ShellExView utility from this Web page.
- Find the right shell extension according the details specified above.
- Select this shell extension and press F7 to disable this extension. After disabling the shell extension, check if the problem still occurs. If the problem still occurs, you should enable back the shell extension by pressing F8, and then try to search for another shell extension that might cause your problem.
